Helping Haiti Earthquake Victims

* Update January 16, 2010!

I am going to create a special section for this list(so that this one does not get lost among my other posts) letting you know all of the ways you can help Haiti and what each organization is doing or planning to do to help the people. It is not up yet, but it will be soon.

*Update January 24, 2010
Here is the section listing resources to help the victims of the Haiti earthquake. I know they may have slipped past the minds of some, but they still need our help. I know the telethon Hope for Haiti raised $57 million! These people still need all the help and prayers they can get, so please visit the help Haiti section of my website where I will be listing good news relating to Haiti and what can be done to continue to help. We have heard so much of the bad, I think it is time to learn of improvements and good thing that are being done there.

Texting HAITI to 90999
The U.S. Dept of State's Web site suggests texting to donate $10 to the Red Cross to help with relief efforts.
$10 will be charged to your cell phone bill. Or you can go online to organizations like the Red Cross and Mercy Corps to contribute to the disaster relief efforts.

Texting YELE to 501501
On Twitter, musician Wyclef Jean, a native of Haiti, notes, "Haiti needs your help and $5 will go toward earthquake relief."
Yele Haiti is a grassroots movement Jean has set up to inspire change in Haiti through programs in education, sports, the arts and environment.
